Pink Lotus

Good evening, all!

I've just submitted one of my latest drawings to compete in one of FusionArt's ongoing challenges, the theme being "Leaves & Petals". I'll attach the link here once the results have been announced – hopefully I'll be able to be one of the winners this time! That would've been great news.

Edit (3rd Dec) : I've obtained an Honourable Mention in FusionArt's 4th Annual Leaves & Petals Art Exhibition! It came as such a wonderful surprise, like an early Christmas present and I am so pleased to announce this on my blog!

I've opted for another brand of coloured pencils this time for the petals of the lotus flowers this time because I found it more difficult to blend the shades of pink using my Faber Castell Polychromo Coloured Pencils. Derwent UK - Coloursoft was a much better option in this case and it made blending the colours much, much easier, and also helped to bring out the pinkish-ness of the flower, else it might've just looked as if it was already wilted.

Stay tuned!
Lots of love, Nancie

Toucan

Hey everyone,

Before I start this blog entry, Toucan is a species of birds that live in tropical areas and generally have very large, colourful beaks. In my opinion, I think they're absolutely lovely (and stylish).  FusionArt was hosting an art competition entitled "Into the Wild", and I seized this brilliant opportunity to illustrate a picture of a Toucan bird. It's astonishing, really –  just compare the size of its beak to its head!

I often visit Pixabay for free, credited pictures, so if you inspiring artists need an archive of high-definition pictures to select from, I highly recommend this site.

Happy Monday!
Love, Nancie

It's Always Tea Time

Hello lovelies,

It had been quite challenging to keep up with the assortment of textures for these delish macaroons, since I haven't got loads of experience with coloured pencils yet, but we'll get there soon enough. I had submitted this piece to this Facebook Page called
Color - Ann Kullberg's magazine for Colored Pencil Artists with hopes that they might notice me and publish my work in their magazine. Just click into the hyperlink and it'll take you right there.

I must say that I was a little disappointed that they didn't pick me, but I'm glad that my drawing turned out just the way I wanted it to!

Please enjoy!
xxx Nancie

White Waterlily

Greetings,

This was the second piece I've drawn especially for the Coloured Pencil Magazine May 2018's art challenge. Only that this time, luck wasn't on my side and I didn't win anything – but it's alright. I'll be sure to work harder to improve!

As usual, I used my Faber Castell Polychromo Coloured Pencils. But this time along with a different brand of products for the blue shades called MasterArt Master Series.

I hope you had a great time.

Flower Power

Dearest viewers,

Here's my attempt on a flower drawing – unfortunately, I have no clue what species this flower belongs to, and it would've been rather embarrassing if I stated it wrongly instead, so I'm going to settle on not mentioning it instead.

Always appreciating your support!
Love, Nancie

Pomegranate Passion

Dear all,

I'm going to keep posting all my old works since I haven't got a blog to showcase these babies until today. So, here's another drawing that once again sparked my interest in coloured pencil art and encouraged me to keep going.

Unfortunately, I can't attach the original picture here as I have already gotten rid of the picture long ago and it would've been too much of a hassle to trace it back.

Hope you enjoyed it!
xoxo, Nancie

Bowl of Cereal

Hello all!

This piece was specifically drawn and coloured in order to take part in the Colored Pencil Magazine's October Art Challenge. Initially, I only had the thought of challenging myself to up my game as it has been quite a while since I've meddled with coloured pencils, hence it came as a lovely surprise when they announced me as the winner of the Beginner category.

It was my first experimentation with Faber Castell Polychromos Coloured Pencils, and like I expected, they worked beautifully.
